StyleCAD 8.0 brings unprecedented level of
sophistication to PDS/Grading/Marking. With the introduction of version 8,
we have set the new standard for all other CAD systems. Here we introduce
some of the highlights.
Grading Tools
1. Customization of
Grading Increment Amount.
This user can define custom grading increment values
(4 additional settings). This can improve grading speed for
frequently used grading amounts such as 3/8, 3/16
etc.

2. Grading Size
Filter.
The
user can enable a subset of size list for grading. Drag the size
column to select the sizes. Click on the base size to reset.
Only those enabled sizes are
graded with a grading operation.

3.
Blending of Grading Data for Internals such as drill holes, buttons etc.
This new feature works with
buttons/drill holes spread over multiple pieces as illustrated here.

5. Intermediate Grading Based on 2 Reference
Points.
This new feature is a generic
method that performs intermediate grading on a grading point by selecting
2 reference grading points.
6. Scale Grading of
Notations. This
new tool in V8 allows grading notations using scale method.
Design elements such as text, drawings can be imported from font
file, illustrator etc and may be grouped as internal lines and then
converted to a notation. The
advantage of doing so is that unlike internal lines, notation can be
handled as a single entity.
It can be graded as 1 object making it easier to
manipulate.

7. Grading Sleeve Cap Curve. This
new tool adjusts the grading amount while maintaining the desirable sleeve
cap shape. And the result is shown below.
Please compare the original shape shown in dotted gray line to the
final result
.
8. Spiral Grading. A
special variation of the perimeter grading tool is the spiral grading
method. The grading method used is same as
irregular parallel line where the offset is gradually increased along the
spiral. Enter the desired perimeter length for each
size and the tool does the rest
.
9. Radial
Grading with Irregular Offset. If
2 end points are already graded with different offsets and Lock Grading is
set for both, the offset for intermediate points are adjusted so that the
offset amount is gradually applied
.

PDS Tools
1. Seam Corner Matching. One
complaint that V7 users had was that after matching seam corners, the
Seam/Sew Separate flag is set and can not make simple changes to the seam
such as adding notches. This limitation has been removed
in V8. Matching seam corner
does not set the Seam/Sew Separate flag any more. Therefore, the dynamic seam
operation such as adding notches, changing corner type etc. can still be
carried out after corner matching

2. Seam Copy
and Paste. Type
control-C to copy the seam. Select the destination area with
the shift key down. Type
control-V to paste the seam. If
Control-Shift-V is used, the seam is pasted in reverse order and is useful
for a section that is the mirror image of the copied seam
.
3. Quick Seam Corner
Type Reviewing. View
Corner Type button has been added to the View Filter window and it
displays the seam corner type information next to each seam corner for
quick reviewing.
4. F7 and Bezier
Blending. If
F7 perimeter display is on and Bezier blending is started, the curve
length is displayed next to the section start point to avoid overlapping
with the original section.

4.
Pleat tool. Up
to 100 pleats can be added at once. The
limit in V7 was
20.
5.
Custom Angle for Outnotch and V-Notch type. Outnotches
and V-notches can have custom notch angle.
6. Dual Language
Feature. Pattern
names, description, pattern annotations etc. are supported in 2
languages.
StyleCAD displays the language that matches the Regional Setting. An
Excel file is exported, traslated and then imported to enter
translation. The system maintains the dictionary of all translated
names and phrases for future translation from dictionary. A sample
excel file used for translation from English to Korean is shown
below. Click for video

7.
Lead-In/Lead-Out Control for Cutting Machine Users. The
V7 version supports only one lead in cut line on patterns.
V8 supports both lead in and out cut lines. Lead-in/out cut lines allow
cleaner cut at the cut starting/ending point. For bidirectional cut, a pattern
can have 2 lead in cut lines and 2 lead out cut
lines.

8. Lectra MDL Import/Export Feature. There
is an option to import the nude pattern (sewing line as the outline) and
the outline as original pattern. Export
options include include/exclude grading data export, curve point
grading data export and seam line
export.
9. Dark Background The
user may choose dark background as opposed to the default white
background.
10. Copy and
Paste Piece Between 2 PDS Programs. When
multiple PDS programs are open, copying and pasting is allowed between 2
programs. In order to differentiate between
normal copy and paste, Conrol + Shift + C/V sequence must be used to copy
between 2 StyleCAD PDS programs.
11. Drag and Drop
to All Picture Windows. All
image windows in StyleCAD windows are now enabled for Drag and Drop and
Copy and Paste operation. Double Clicking the image window
brings up a popup window that provides larger view with scanning
feature.
Marking Tools
1. Autonesting Option For Lowering Pattern. When
pieces are lowered from the upper rack, the pieces can be automatically
nested.
|
2. Autonesting Option In Standard Marking Program. In
V8, the standard marking program provides the user to automatically
nest pieces. This standard feature
provides the first solution and does not improve the solution. This feature is not intended
to replace the optional automarking
module.

3. Autonesting By Name In Standard Marking Program. This
is another standard feature that allows sectional marking by pattern
name. Optionally the user can add
end of marker lines between sections. If the Shake Pieces In
option is checked, each piece is slid automatically to try to
minimize the marker
length.

4. Plaid/Stripe Lines At
Angle.

5. Measurement Tools in Marking. A
Ruler tool which is similar to the PDS Ruler tool has been added to
the marking module. The
ruler tool has an added feature that determines the gap distance
between 2 pieces. Press the Shift key down and
left click 2 pieces in succession. The gap distance is
displayed on the cursor readout area in the bottom status
bar.
6.
Damaged Fabric Area Control.

|
7. Inserting Gap In Marker. The
user can separate a marker at a designated location and insert a specified
gap. The gap location can be selected using a
vertical line, a horizontal line or a custom (user defined)
polyline.
 |
 |
8. Exporting Mini Marker in Excel Spreadsheet. Mini
Markers can be exported to an Excel file. Both portrait and landscape formats
are
supported.

AutoMarking
1. 2500 Piece Limit. V8
Automarker allows up to 2500 pieces. The
previous limit was 1500.
2. Horizontal Seciton Marking V8
Automarker allows creating sectional marker that is sectioned by horizontal
dividing lines. This could be useful if the fabric
quality is uneven and the marker should be divided along the length of the
fabric. An example is illustrated
below.

3. Submitting Multiple Marker Ratios. This
new feature allows creating multiple markers for each marker group very
quickly. Each marker can have unique marker width
and size ratio.
