Testimonials
StyleCAD comments from TAFE teacher: After
using StyleCAD and Lectra I find that Style CAD is more user friendly
using the windows environment. StyleCADs
terminology is also similar to the wording we use in pattern making where
as Lectra is harder to decipher. I
really don’t know what else to say. As
I have really got into Style CAD and hardly teach Lectra, I find that
Style CAD is so much easier. Susan
Current StyleCAD & Gerber user comments: I am also working with XXXXXXXX
Institute of design. They have a Gerber
system. The students have a terrible time
trying to learn it and I would luv to train them on StyleCAD. Please think
about that and see if there is anything StyleCAD can do.
Betta get back to
work. All the
best, XXXX Ex Gerber users comments: My name is Paul, I have 15 years experience as a CAD operator. Most of that time has been on a Gerber system. I have also worked on Lectra, Polynest and StyleCad. I have purchased a StyleCad system for my own freelance work.
File
Structure - I also have a diploma in database design and
development and have created a couple of databases that track garment
construction, specifications and costing. One of the things I love
about StyleCad over Gerber is that the marker, style and log files are
able to be seen via Windows explorer. This means I can generate a list of
styles, markers and logs within my database and make them linkable. Any
one can read the log files and anyone with a StyleCad licence on their
computer can open the Markers and Styles.
Images - My database uses the same image xxxF.jpg (front) and xxxB.jpg (back) as you do in StyleCad, reading it straight from the SCAD folder. This means less redundant data - no more storing the same image in different places for the various applications we use.
fusible
blocks in markers. I love it. It's what I was asking Gerber to do
for the past 12 years. I believe StyleCAD have made major improvements to what Gerber has to offer. Kind Regards
Paul Gerber Grading vs. StyleCAD Grading. The rule table
they have is something that is not a standard table for all Gerber systems
but one that can be customised by them. Using the rule
table makes grading easy. I use mine all the time, I know it off by heart
and would hate to not have it. I’m sure this
company you are talking with also has a similar connection to their own
rule tables and will want to keep it. My rule table
started on Gerber, but I had to recreate it on the
StyleCad. StyleCad’s rule
table exists as a table within a database file. This file can be read and
opened by Microsoft access. You can create
the table in excel and then import it into the database via access.
The ability to do
this is one of the great things I love about StyleCad’s Grade rules.
I can use the
same spreadsheet to generate the same rules but in different step ratios
all thanks to the formulas in excel. It took me year’s
to enter each grade rule into Gerber, and I didn’t have all the rules that
I would have liked. I had to enter each rule number’s name, X value and Y
value, and in the case of a step grade the x and Y value for each
step. With StyleCad I
set up the spreadsheet in a few hours and now I can add similar grade rule
libraries in a matter of minutes. So long as the
steps as a proportion of a full grade it’s super quick to create a full
library of 3000 grade rules. StyleCad also
allows you to quickly add new rules to the library as you work, and you
can have Letters as well as Numbers. If Gerber would
just allow the rules to be exported into an excel sheet then I could put
them in to a StyleCad rule table for you. As far as I know
Gerber can’t do this.
With StyleCad’s
ability to select multiple points and assign grade rules to them it’s much
much faster to assign the rules once it’s on the screen.
Digitising on
StyleCad is much faster than Gerber. There are huge staff time/cost
savings to be made just with the digitising
alone. Paul Donnelley |
